Braves finish as 6th best team in SJ

While there were no group team tournaments this wrestling season the Absegami Braves managed to find themselves near the top of the South Jersey wrestling world.

Trackwrestling, the statistical bible of scholastic wrestling, scored the NJSIAA Region South (Region 7 and Region 8 combined) as if it were a district tournament, tabulating team points via wins, pins and advancement through brackets.

The Braves, with six entries in Region South but only two that advanced, finished in sixth place. Kingsway was first, Southern Regional second, St. Augustine third, Camden Catholic fourth and Paulsboro was fifth.

“It’s great for us,” Absegami head coach Shawn Scannell said. “That’s good company to be in. “

The combined might of Region 7 and Region 8 is considerable and the Braves’ sixth-place finish puts them amongst the elite in South Jersey.
